This post is written to link with Five Minute Friday– write for five minute on a one-word prompt. The prompt today is “inspire.”
Do you ever have those days when you just don’t feel inspired?
I’ve felt like that a lot lately. It shows itself in different areas, but this week it has been over writing.
“You’re a bad writer!”
“You have nothing worthwhile to say.”
“No-one wants to read your words anyway.”
The voice in my head goes on and on, draining me of motivation and enthusiasm and hope.
But then I remember that writing was never my idea, and I turn my gaze to the one who called me.
I think of Moses at the burning bush, called to a task far too big for him:
“Who am I to go to Pharaoh?”
“Who am I to lead the Israelites?”
“I can’t speak; I’ll get my words mixed up.”
“No-one will listen.”
And I recall God’s reply:
“I AM. I will be with you.”
I hear the same words and remember that it’s not about my ability or confidence. It’s not up to me to make it happen. It’s not about me at all. It’s about him, and his power is unlimited.
So, freshly inspired, I get up and keep going. As I step out and obey, it doesn’t guarantee that it will always go well, but I can rest in the certainty that he will be with me.
