Holding On For The Happy Ending

This is Day 31 of my Write 31 Days series for 2017: 31 Days of Kintsugi.

Thank you for joining me this month as we’ve thought about the idea of Kintsugi– that there is beauty in brokenness as God binds up our wounds with gold, drawing us close to him and allowing our scars to witness to others of his love and power.

It’s not easy to live in a broken world and, while there is great beauty to be found, we all have times when we just long to be free- from pain, from suffering, from brokenness:

“For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay…  We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved.” (Romans 8:19-21, 23-24 NLT)

We are waiting, but we wait with hope, knowing that God is faithful to his promises and that one day our brokenness will be completely healed and we will be fully restored as God intends us to be.

“I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.  He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.””  (Revelation 21:3-5 NLT)

So let’s hold on to hope as we wait for the happy ending.  We are all works in progress, but one day we will be complete.  In the meantime, let’s give our broken pieces to God and see what beauty he can create.
