When I stop to think about it, it still amazes me.
I’ve heard the story many times before, I’ve watched countless nativity plays, I’ve taught it to hundreds of children, and sometimes it can be easy to take it for granted.
But when I stop and think about it, it’s still amazing. It still fills me with wonder.
That God, the Almighty Creator would come in human form – to dwell among us, to be one of us.
That he would come as a baby – humble and helpless – yet come to save.
That he was so committed to his people that he refused to give up on them despite their unfaithfulness.
That he went to such lengths to deal with our brokenness to make a way for us to be with him forever.
Stop…
Be still…
And ponder.
It’s still amazing.
May we never lose the wonder!
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His government and its peace will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!”
Isaiah 9:6-7 NLT
What a great reminder during what can sometimes become a season that places this amazing story second to so many less important things. THanks for sharing this.

Thanks, Tara! Yes there are so many distractions at Christmas. It’s good to take time to focus on what it’s really about.
