I think I was about seven years old when I first became excited about the Bible. At a church children’s club I attended, we heard the story of Joseph. It was told over several weeks, and it seemed that every instalment ended on a cliffhanger. I had never heard the story before, and I could hardly wait to find out what would happen next!
I remember going home and picking up a Bible that I’d received as a baby and trying to read it, but it was impossible. The font was tiny and the language archaic. I only got a few lines into it before I gave up, thinking it would have to wait until I was older…
Fortunately that wasn’t the end of my interest in the Bible! I’m honoured to be sharing at Jana Carlson’s blog Wield The Word as part of a series where various women share about what the Bible means to them and how it has impacted their lives.
I’d love it if you’d join me there to read more!
I had one of those little Bibles from Great Britain that my Grandma sent when I was a baby. The beginning of your story has brought back memories this morning, friend …

Glad it brought back memories for you, Linda! I found that little Bible again at my parents’ house after writing this post and it was even tinier than I remember!

How great your interest in the Bible started so early. I guess those portions of great Bible stories ending on cliffhangers did the trick. 🙂 Heading over to read the rest of this post now!
