Dear Younger Me…

Dear Younger Me...

If you could give some advice to your younger self, what would you say?

This is the question I’m planning to consider here on the blog throughout the month of October.

Many of you will have heard of Write 31 Days, the blogging challenge that has taken place for several years which involves selecting a topic and posting about it each day in October.

While the challenge is not taking place in quite the same format this year, the Five Minute Friday community is hosting a similar challenge – 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes.

W31 2019

A prompt word is provided for each day of October, and the idea is to write on it for five minutes.

I have decided to use the prompt words as a starting point for writing a letter to my younger self each day, addressing my words to myself as I turned 18, trying to pass on advice and insights which may have been helpful (and which will hopefully have some value for others too.)

I won’t be sticking strictly to five minutes, but I will be keeping them fairly short.  I hope you’ll join me and that you’ll share some of your reflections and insights too.

And I’ll leave you with some musical inspiration for the month ahead!

  1. Oh I love this idea, Lesley! You’ve always been so creative in your approach to 30 Days. You know I’m going to be following along.

For sure, most all of us wish we had done things differently along the way. I know I’m going to be resonating with your musings …

    Can’t wait.

  2. I’m looking forward to your insight, Lesley. I’m sure it will be a challenge, but it’s such a good idea to address “younger me.” I sometimes think if I had known then what I know now, I would have done things differently back then. I don’t think I’ll get to commenting each day, but I’m hoping to keep up with you! Love and blessings to you!

    1. Thanks, Trudy! I’ll be writing a lot of it as I go through October, and some of the prompt words will be challenging, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. No pressure at all- just read when you can and comment when you like. Hope you find some of it helpful. Love and blessings to you too!
